The European Commission calls for online privacy protection measures PDF Print E-mail

On 8 October 2009 the European Commission (EC) repeated its call to all EU member states to increase their efforts in dealing with online privacy threats to the public, such as spam, spyware and malware, based on findings from a study required by the Commission.

Following the entering into force in November 2007 of the Turkish Law No. 5651 entitled Regulation of Publications on the Internet and Suppression of Crimes Committed by means of Such Publication, a large number of websites have been blocked in Turkey.

Judge unbiased, no retrial for The Pirate Bay PDF Print E-mail

On 25 June 2009, Sweden's Court of Appeal ruled that judge Norström in The Pirate Bay (TPB) case was not biased as the lawyers representing TPB founders had claimed. Therefore there will be no retrial for TPB in Stockholm District Court.

Sweden: IP addresses are personal data PDF Print E-mail

The Swedish Supreme Administrative Court ruled on 18 June that the IP addresses are personal data in a case regarding APB (the Swedish Anti-Piracy Bureau, Antipiratbyrån), a lobby group representing copyright owners.

The telecoms ministers rejected the telecom package as adopted by the EP PDF Print E-mail
