Austria puts more pressure on Google Street View PDF Print E-mail

Austrian Data Protection Authority (DSK) placed a temporary ban on Google's Street View cars, The DSK intends to sanction the collection of private data from unencrypted wifi networks and therefore wants to see changes to the EU data protection directive in this regard.

The French senator Jean-Louis Masson submitted on 3 May 2010 a draft law that would end anonymity of bloggers who, according to the text, would have to provide on their blogs identification data such as name, phone number and address.

During his speech on 27 April 2010 at the European Privacy and Data Protection Commissioners' Conference in Prague, the European Data Protection Supervisor (EDPS) Peter Hustinx asked the European Commission to continue its efforts in updating the present legal framework for data protection.

German civil society calls for a definitive end to telecom data retention PDF Print E-mail

More than 40 organisations and associations have sent a letter asking the German Federal Minister of Justice to "push for the abolition of EU telecommunications data retention requirements" which compel phone and Internet companies to collect data about their customers' communications.
