The Metamorphosis Foundation launched a new website intended for the higher education, research, and all other institutions planning to establish a digital repository to archive their documents, papers, software, learning resources, multimedia files etc.
The “Digital repositories” website is an adaptation of the contents of the info-tool “Digital Repositories” published by JISC infoNet. It is available in Macedonian, and will soon be released in Albanian language as well.
The info-tool for digital repositories is a practical "how to" guide for the setup and management of digital repositories. It contains information ranging from the initial idea for a digital repository and the planning process, through detailed descriptions on the setup and promotion of the repository, to its maintenance and management.
Although this resource is intended for administrators of repositories, no prior experience or technical knowledge in this area is required. The tool can be used by anyone in need of getting familiar with any of the topics covered, and the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution 2.5 License Macedonia should be respected in case of further use of the digital content.

The site is also linking to detailed information about downloading, installing and using DSpace as a free software tool for setup of digital repositories. All the digital repositories will be made available here to the whole public as links, established and edited by institutions in Macedonia.
What’s a digital repository?
Digital repositories enable management, storage and access to digital content. They can have many forms, and all kinds of websites and databases could be considered to be repositories. Institutional repositories are the main focus of the website, and the tool reflects the current best practices in the community of institutional (open access) repositories.
The advantages of depositing works in open access digital repositories are numerous: greater visibility of research results, increased influence of the publications, the ability to measure the usage of the papers, local and global access to the content, establishing collaborations, financial savings and so on.
