Twelve digital clubhouses have been opened in the Republic of Macedonia so far within the frames of the Digital Clubhouses project, which is being implemented by the Metamorphosis Foundation for several years now. The Digital Clubhouses offer various activities and services including access to ICT for the members of the community with the aim of supporting their social and economic development. Digital Clubhouses mission is to provide education, access to e-databases, use of e-services and creating awareness for information technology and democracy, as well as promotion of methodologies and ideas that will help in enhancing the spreading of ICT among the people regardless of age and origin. Map of the digital clubhouses DC Kamenjane Digital clubhouse Kamenjane is located on the main street in the village Kamenjane, Tetovo region. This clubhouse has 7 PCs, a printer and a scanner. The digital clubhouse offers the following services:
DC Rankovce Digital clubhouse Rankovce is located in the village Rankovce, between Kratovo and Kriva Palanka. Digital clubhouse is located near the primary school and apart from the villagers of Rankovce, the digital clubhouse is regularly visited by the villagers from the neighbouring villages (Petralica, Vetunica, Opila, Ginovce, Radibush, Psacha, Otoshnica and Ljubince).The digital clubhouse has 4 PCs, a printer and a scanner and offers the following services:
DC Samokov Digital clubhouse is located in the village Samokov, 60 km north-east from Kichevo. It has 7 PCs, a printer and a scanner.The regular visitors are the children and the youth from Samokov that use the following services offered by the digital clubhouse:
DC Vrama Si This digital clubhouse is located in the Roma educational centre “Vrama Si” in the impoverished Roma settlement Pero Chicho in Kumanovo. The digital clubhouse is visited by children and youth from the settlement and from the neighbouring settlements to learn the basic computer skills. They attend courses on Word and Excel, as well as Internet browsing, and they use the PCs for surfing, e-mail, printing and scanning.The digital clubhouse has 7 PCs, a printer and a scanner. DC Sasa
The clubhouse will have internet access starting from the 1st of November 2007.
The clubhouse has an average of 170 users daily, and 33 persons have been trained in basic use of computer technology (Windows, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet) within a three-month period. Presently, 4 months after the clubhouse was opened, 11 more persons are being trained, a draft design has been prepared for the web site of the digital clubhouses in Macedonia and the first entertaining portal of Kriva Palanka is being prepared.
Twenty residents of Slatina and the surrounding villages have been trained in the clubhouse in the three months since it was opened, and free courses for web design are planned for the members of the organization Millennium that manages the club.
The services of this clubhouse are used on a daily basis by the students and the employees from the school in the period between 9 am and 3 pm, while the members of the NGOs and other legal entities from these populated areas can use the clubhouse from 3 to 5 pm. After 5 pm, and until 10 pm the clubhouse is open for all the residents and the services are charged 30 denars per hour.
The club is open every workday from 10:00 to 18:00. Working hours: 08:00-12:00. The club also provides basic computer skills courses (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for the interested members.
